RSSI calibrates over 3000 models of radiation survey meters at our in-house calibration facility.  Our fixed range offers consistent, high quality calibration meeting ANSI 323-1978 and MIL-STD-45662A standards.  RSSI's calibration team ensures that calibration of your instrument is completed within 5 business days and the instrument is packed securely for insured shipment back to you.  In situations where you need your radiation survey meter returned to you quickly, 1-day turnaround and overnight shipping are available.  For emergencies, where you need your radiation survey meter immediately, as-you-wait same-day turnaround or equipment rental is available.  Please call 847-965-1999 beforehand to ensure a calibration technician will be available.

RSSI's calibration services are authorized by IEMA License IL-01429-01 and approved by Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission R-117.  RSSI's calibration services include:

  • Cs-137 exposure rates between 0.08 mR/hr and 20 R/hr;

  • Electronically extended ranges to meet manufacturers' specifications;

  • Surface emanation rate efficiencies determined for alpha and beta emitters; and

  • Free reminder letters (sent by email) when your radiation survey meter is due for calibration.

In addition to radiation survey meter calibration, RSSI's technicians can repair most meters we calibrate.  We maintain an extensive library of manuals and schematics and a large inventory of radiation survey meter parts.  Our manuals library and parts inventory allows us to repair your radiation survey meter and return it to you within our standard turn around time unless additional parts need to be ordered.

We calibrate many makes of radiation survey meters, including:

  • Ludlum
  • Victoreen
  • Bicron
  • Eberline
  • NDS
  • Kay-Ray
  • Dosimeter Corp.
  • Arrow-Tech
  • Thermo Fisher
  • Polimaster

Some manufacturers do not support third-party calibration companies. If you have a question about a specific make and model of instrument, please contact us.

Cost for a standard calibration of a basic 3-scale instrument with one detector probe is $90 plus shipping and handling. ISO/IEC 17025:2017-compliant calibration is an additional $40. When sending in an instrument, please include a completed copy of our calibration service request form, located here.
